The exhibit is inside the National Naval Aviation Museum and is in honor of the 591 airmen and soldiers taken into captivity in Vietnam between 1964 and 1973. It includes a vast collection of stories, artifacts and a re-creation of the gate at Hoa Lo Prison, nicknamed the Hanoi Hilton.

There’s a lot to the NNAM that can easily fill up a day of activities. If arriving at 8:30am on most Tuesdays and Wednesdays, you can watch the Blue Angels Demonstration Team perform practice air shows. Some exhibits, including several flight simulators and an IMAX theater, have admission fees.

Museum hours: 9-5 every day of the week. Free admission, donations suggested. The museum is aboard Naval Air Station Pensacola that is open to the public, but certain rules apply. From the website: “Those visitors riding motorcycles will not be allowed on board unless they are wearing a long sleeve shirt and pants, helmet, gloves, and hard sole shoes.”
