The monument is a series of walks, walls, benches and plaques dedicated to veterans of all wars. It is located on two acres with a stunning view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. All branches of service are represented, as well as recognition of POW-MIAs. Many plaques memorialize families and individuals from El Dorado County.

Bonus stop: If you have the time and the appetite, check out Apple Hill, a farming region just up Hwy. 80, east of Placerville. A number of growers are open year-round with bake shops, restaurants and wineries. Open year-round, but especially popular during the harvest season when over 50 ranches are open.
