This memorial honors firefighters "who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our magnificent Mogollon Rim Country." Listed on the plaque are 10 firefighters who died fighting wildfires there from 1961 through 1990.

Payson is at 4,800’ elevation and near the scenic Mogollon Rim, one of Arizona’s largest geologic features. Enjoy the ride through the countryside in and out of Payson.
