The National World War II Submarine Memorial-West is located just outside the main gate of the Naval Weapons Station, Seal Beach. A sister to the WWII Submarine Memorial–East in Groton, Connecticut, this memorial features 52 granite stones representing the submarines lost in WWII and a Wall of Honor inscribed with the names of the 3,617 submariners who gave their lives in the Silent Service during WWII.

A frontier beneath the waves

In the roles that these mariners play
A kingdom of darkness, a world alone
A place of challenge within
And through the seas such sentinels roam
All proud and “Invisible Men.”
