Honoring America's first military early responders, a four foot tall bronze statue bears a traditional Revolutionary War uniform and tricorner hat, standing on a granite base.
Along with the names of 15 local men, the inscription reads:
“Statue Erected by
Daughters of the American Revolution
in Memory of Soldiers of the War for Independence
who are buried in Vermilion County.”
½ block north is the 109-year-old Vermilion County War Museum, with exhibits covering more than 200 years of U.S. military history.
