Take a photo of your rally flag with the soldier and POW/MIA panel.

The Veterans Memorial Park is home to seven veteran/war memorials and two other monuments, including the Kansas Korean War Memorial. Completed in 2001, the memorial displays many facts of the US participation in the Korean War. The focal point is a statue of a soldier kneeling atop a pedestal surrounded by brass panels, each explaining a facet of the war.

Take your photo with the soldier and the POW/MIA panel in the background. This panel lists the Kansas Korean War POWs grouped by branch of service.

Take some time and walk the whole park. The showcase of the park is the US Bicentennial Flag Pavilion Memorial completed in 1977. It has 14 display cabinets showing the different versions of our country’s flag from inception to present day.

The park is open 24/7.

Also in the area: Cassoday, KS is 52 miles NE of these memorials at exit 92 of I-35. This normally sleepy town with a population of 131 is called the "Prairie Chicken Capital of the World" but better known for the Cassoday Bike Run. On the first Sunday morning of the month (March through November), as many as 5000 motorcyclists will descend on Cassoday.

There are no organized activities, but the main activity is walking around the town looking at the bikes, talking to other riders and checking out the vendors. By noon most riders will be headed home so come early and eat breakfast at the cafe. Find out more here.
