This is an especially moving memorial to the fishermen lost at sea along the East Coast, with the mother patiently waiting with children, praying that her husband has survived the perils of the sea.

Cape May is one of the country’s oldest vacation resort destinations and is still hugely popular during the summertime. Tourism is by far the dominant industry, with its Victorian houses, boardwalk, restaurants, and dedication to the arts.

When you’re done here, and you haven’t done so already, consider taking the nearby ferry to Lewes, Delaware to visit the Unknown Sailors Cemetery site.
