This cemetery is one of two National cemeteries in Nevada, the other being in Fernley. There are more than 10,000 veterans buried in the two cemeteries since their opening in 1990.

The National Cemetery Administration provides a gravesite, opening and closing of the grave, perpetual care, a Government headstone or marker, a burial flag, and a Presidential Memorial Certificate, at no cost to the family. Eligible spouses and dependents may be buried with the Veteran, again at no cost to the family. These are fitting tributes to honor Veterans, and their sacrifices, so they can rest alongside their comrades.
