9/11 Monument in Phenix City, Alabama

Riverwalk between Dillingham and 13th Sts.

Take a photo of your rally flag and motorcycle with the above image.*

On a bluff overlooking the Chatahootchee River separating Columbus, Georgia from Phenix City, is a monument dedicated to the brave firemen of the city of New York who sacrificed their lives in the Twin Towers. The small stone monument reads: "In honor of our fallen comrades who lost their lives while trying to save others at the World Trade Center on Sept 11, 2001" and has the engraved image of a firefighter holding a small child.

There is no indication as to what organization placed the monument or who created it. City officials aren’t even sure when it was first placed beside the Riverwalk. The mystery monument’s wording would lead one to believe that the monument was placed by fellow firefighters, however, none of the local engine companies will take credit. If you can solve the mystery, let us know!
