This beautiful park was dedicated in 2010, serving as a tribute to all who served in the military, and to those who lost their lives to protect our freedom. At the front of the park is an illuminated flag pole standing in a circular plaza around which are stone panels, one dedicated to each branch of the service and upon which are photos of scenes from the respective branch.

Behind the plaza is a brick pathway circling the tree-lined grassy area of the rest of the park. Along this pathway are individual statues dedicated to each branch of the service. There's a soldier on patrol statue for the Army. A proud Marine, standing tall at attention, captures the essence of the Marines. A sailor in dungarees and peacoat represents the Navy. A determined-looking fighter pilot represents the Air Force. And a finally, a Coast Guardsmen standing ready to put to sea on a rescue mission.

Also in the area: There are a number of restaurants to choose from within a few blocks. Try the cafe at the corner of W. King St [Hwy 40] and N. Lee St [Hwy 17]. In the Memorial Park there are several tree-shaded picnic tables, so consider grabbing a sandwich and taking a lunch break.
