LSTs were amphibious vessels built for the purpose of landing on unimproved enemy beaches to unload tanks, trucks, supplies and troops. This Landing Ship, Tank 325 completed 44 trips between England and France between 1944 and 1945, landing on Omaha, Utah, Gold and Juno beaches, as well as the city of Rouen on the Seine River. She has become a museum and memorial ship to the men who bravely served their country aboard LSTs.
Tour hours are Tues-Sat. 10am-4pm. Sunday 12n-4pm. Closed Mondays.
Note: Dry dock repairs in Port Arthur, Texas are scheduled to commence January, 2013, and the ship may not be back in time for Tour of Honor visits. In that case, a photo of the gate above will suffice.
