This park is designated a National Historic Park site, one of six in Nebraska. Just inside the gates and to the right is the Memorial with over 1000 names of Veterans carved in the black granite and murals depicting scenes from the Civil War to the present. This site is well worth a “get off the bike and see the park” walk. A lot of history here and one of this state sponsor’s favorites.

Also in the area: Hickory Road BBQ, 914 Central Ave., is highly recommended.
