This memorial features two 25 foot granite towers and two crossed steel beams from the World Trade Center. It is dedicated to the 2,752 victims and the 416 first responders that lost their life on September 11, 2001. It lists the names of those who lost their life that day and the names of South Carolina Midlands first responders who have lost their life since that morning in 2001.
Also in the area: The Columbia Fire Museum at 1800 Laurel St contains artifacts that date to the mid-1800’s.
The South Carolina Military Museum at 1 National Guard Rd. and the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum at 301 Gervais St. are also close by.
Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens features some of the best zoological displays in the south.
