The memorial sits in the city Common honoring those members of the armed services from Brattleboro who died in the wars from WWI through Vietnam. Their names are inscribed on the flanking panels in grateful remembrance of their neighbors.

Also in the area: Saturdays during the summer showcases the Farmers Market on Rt 9 with food to eat and food to carry home. The nearby Vermont Jazz Center is home to a regular schedule of performances and if you’re lucky, Naulakha, Rudyard Kipling’s home may be open for tours. Worth a stop to see where The Jungle Book and Captains Courageous were written. It is of course on Kipling Road.
