Idaho is proudly sponsored by Dale "Warchild" Wilson. Please contact him for suggestions or corrections. Or just thank him for sharing his state with us.
Dale is well-known in the long-distance riding community, serving as Chief Technical Inspector for the Iron Butt Association, and IBA website developer at www.ironbutt.com. He is also a founding member of the Cognoscente Group, which is based in Nevada and hosts some of the most extreme (and off-the-wall) endurance rallies in the history of the sport.
Dale scored an impressive 5th place finish in his first Iron Butt Rally in 1997, and during 2007, set a world record for the most consecutive number of "BunBurner Gold" rides: seven(!) back-to-back 1,500+ mile days on his Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird. This feat will probably never be equaled.
Staying true to his endurance riding prowess, Dale completed
all of his Tour of Honor rides while earning a SaddleSore 1000 ...
obtaining all seven Memorial sites in a state, in less than 24 hours while riding well
over 1,000 miles.
Dale is a former career Naval Officer specializing in Aviation Maintenance.
He served aboard the USS America (CV66) and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN72), and served combat tours aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN65) and USS
Coral Sea (CV43). The bulk of his career was in Tailhook Aviation, serving
in the Medium Attack community flying the Grumman A-6E Intruder, and the
Electronic Warfare community flying the Grumman EA-6B Prowler.
Dale is 6th-generation career Navy, and oldest son Tyler is now 7th-generation, currently deployed in the Sea of Japan with the Navy's Forward Deployed Expeditionary Strike Group (FD-ESG).
