The Mid-Atlantic region is proudly sponsored by 5th generation New Englander Jim Hatch. Please contact him for suggestions or corrections. Or just thank him for sharing his state with us.
Although Jim never served in the military, his family has a long and proud tradition of service in the Army, Navy and Air Force. His sister served during Desert Storm, his brother was in Vietnam and his father served in the Atlantic Fleet during WWII. Uncles, cousins and grandparents, and their uncles, cousins and grandparents have served in all of the wars in this nation’s history. Jim can think of no better cause than the Wounded Warrior Project to give just a little back to those who have given so much.
An EMT with over a dozen years and nearly 1500 calls as a volunteer on the local ambulance squad, he still remembers his first emergency call and the motorcyclist who did not survive – a memory that reminds him that ATGATT is everything on a bike.
Having spent years as a High Adventure Scout leader, he is an accomplished ultralight backpacker who finds 20 mile days in the mountains a perfect way to wash and dry the brain while dropping a few of the pounds Ben & Jerry try to heap on him. That experience makes motorcycle camping one of his new favorite pastimes.
Jim has been riding since he first put a wrecked Suzuki S32 (150cc 8hp 2-stroke) back on the road in high school after his older brother neglected its proper care & feeding. Now he’s looking forward to a cross-country ride (50CC maybe?) with his two sons now that they’re old enough to ride without mom having kittens.
If you wish to contact Jim to discuss the 2013 ToH sites for the Mid-Atlantic states or suggestions for next year, email him at [email protected]. |
